 +====== Dirty Queens ======
 +A card game for 4 players
 +
 +===== Materials =====
 +
 +Two complete decks of cards including jokers. Preferably a total of 4jokers but also playable with only two jokers.
 +
 +===== Set Up =====
 +
 +The game is played with partners sitting opposite each other. All 108 cards are shuffled together Determine which player will start the game. Each player will shuffle and deal the cards during the course of a game. A game consists of four separate hands.
 +Beginning the game: The first dealer places the cards on the table and makes a single cut of the cards in an attempt to choose either 52 or 53 total cards.
 +
 +The dealer sequentially deals one card to each player until all players have 13 cards and places the final card face up on the table. If the dealer has no cards remaining from the cut when all players have 13 cards or has no remaining cards after the final card has been turned face up, the dealer’s team scores 100 points.
 +If the dealer has insufficient cards from the cut to deal each player 13 cards and turn a card up then additional cards are dealt from the remaining stack of cards until each player has 13 cards and a card is placed face up on the table. The dealer’s team scores no points from the deal.
 +
 +If the dealer has remaining cards from the cut following the deal and placing a card up, the remaining cards from the cut are placed face down on top of the cards remaining from the cut. The dealer’s team scores no points from the deal.
 +Special Note on Card Turned over: if the card turned face up is either a 2 or a Joker, that card is inserted randomly into the stack of cards and the next card in the deck is turned face up. This process continues as many times as is required such that the face up card is neither a 2 nor a joker.
 +
 +Play begins clockwise from the dealer (the dealer’s left).
 +
 +===== Wild Cards =====
 +2’s and Jokers are wild cards
 +===== Card values =====
 +Cards in the deck have an assigned value in the game based upon the value of the card as follows:
 +  * 2 – 20 points
 +  * 3 through 8 – 5 points
 +  * 9 through King – 10 points
 +  * Ace – 20 points
 +  * Joker – 50 points
 +  * Queen of Spades – 100 points
 +===== Object of the Game =====
 +Play matching card values in groups consisting of a minimum of three matching cards to score points
 +===== First Play =====
 +The player to the dealer’s left begins play by drawing a card either from the face down stack or the face up card. See special notes on obtaining the face up card stack.
 +
 +In order for a team to open the game, the player must be able to lay down a total of 50 points or more from the sum of all cards to be played in the turn.
 +
 +Cards must be played in groups of a minimum of three of a kind; these groups of cards are called **books**. The three cards may be composed identically numbered cards, e.g., three 4’s, three Kings, or may be comprised of two identical cards and a wild card, e.g., two 4’s and a 2 or two Kings and a Joker.
 +There must be two regular, or natural cards, for each wild card. For example, it is allowable to play four 5’s, a Joker, and 2, but not to play three 5’s with two wild cards.
 +
 +Multiple books may be laid on the player’s turn, provided that the initial lay for the team has a total value of 50 points or more.
 +==== Book Examples ====
 +
 +  * Three 4’s (15 points) and two 5’s with a wild 2 (40) for a total of 55 points
 +  * Three queens, one of which is the Queen of Spades (100 points) and two other queens (10 points each) for a total of 120 points
 +  * Any two cards with a Joker as the Joker alone is worth 50 points
 +===== Completing the First Turn =====
 +The player's turn concludes when the player has either played all of his or her cards on the table as members of books or when the player discards a single card face up on the discard pile, regardless of whether or not any books were played.
 +===== Second Player's First Turn =====
 +The second player follows the same procedure as the first player by either selecting a face down card or the face up stack. The second team must also meet the 50 point minimum requirement to open play.
 +===== Ending a Turn =====
 +A player's turn ends when the player has either played all remaining cards from his or her hand onto the table or when the player discards a single card face up onto the discard pile.
 +
 +If after discarding a card to end the turn, the player must announce to the other players if that player has only one card remaining in his or her hand.
 +===== Number of Cards in a Player's Hand =====
 +At any time during the game any player may ask any other player to announce the number of cards remaining in his or her hand. When asked a player must truthfully announce the number of cards he or she holds. Failing to announce the number of cards or incorrectly announcing the number of cards results in a forfeit of the game for that team.
 +===== Turns After Opening =====
 +Each player who has a turn after his or her team has opened begins the turn by either drawing a single card from the face down card stack or by selecting the face up card stack.
 +
 +At this point the player may play individual cards of the same value onto existing books belonging to the player's team. For example, if the player's partner played a book of 3's, the player may add either one or two threes from his or her hand to that book.
 +
 +A player may also play wild cards onto existing books provided that the ratio of natural cards to wild cards remains above 2 to 1.
 +
 +===== Ending a Hand (Going "Out") =====
 +On any turn a player may be able to either play all of the cards in the player's hand or play all but one card which stall be discarded. When a player no longer has any cards in his or her hand, the hand ends.
 +
 +It is common courtesy for a player to first ask his or her partner as to whether or not the team should "Go Out." Ideally the player will both ask the partner and adhere to the partner's wishes, but ultimately a player may decide for the team to go out by playing all of his or her cards.
 +===== Scoring a Hand =====
 +When one player for a team goes out, the other member of the team discards the remaining cards in his or her hands to the discard pile. These cards are no longer considered for scoring for the hand.
 +
 +The players on the other team will by definition have at least one card each in their hands. The point value of all of the cards held by the opposing team are summed together using the card values listed above. The opposing team then removes an equivalent number of points from the books they have played during the hand. Both the cards held in the hands and the offsetting cards from the books are placed on the discard stack.
 +==== Negative Score ====
 +If the team that has gone out does not have sufficient points on the table in books to offset the points from their hands, then that team scores a negative amount for the hand.
 +==== Counting the Score ====
 +Once all of the cards from each player's hand and the offsetting cards from the books have been placed on the discard pile, the remaining cards on the table represent the points for each team.
 +
 +A member of each team gathers all of the cards from all of the books for their team, often sorting the cards into their different point values of 5, 10, 20, and 50 points. The team member then arranges the cards into individual piles of cards totally 100 points each along with one or more cards left over that total less than 100 points.
 +
 +The points for each team, either positive or negative are recorded for the hand.
 +
 +===== Starting the Next Hand =====
 +The deal passes to the player to left of the previous dealer and another hand is played.
 +===== Playing and Scoring Additional Hands =====
 +Additional hands are played in the same manner as the first hand. The score from each hand is added to the score from the previous hand(s) to arrive at current total score.
 +===== Ending the Game =====
 +Each player deals one time for the game. After each player has dealt one time and the fourth hand has been completed, the game is ended. The team with the greatest number points at the conclusion of four hands, including any bonus points awarded for cutting and dealing the correct number of cards, is the winning team.
 +
 +===== Selecting the Face Up Stack =====
 +The face up stack may be selected by a team which has not yet played any books or by a team which has already played books totaling at least 50 points.
 +==== Teams with Books Played ====
 +In order to pick up the face up stack, the player must be able to immediately play the face up card on the table as a member of a stand alone book without using any of the additional cards in the face up stack. To illustrate the ability to play the top face up card, the player begins play by placing face up on the table two or more cards which will be combined with the face up card to complete a minimum three card book. The player then takes the top card from the face up stack, places it with the two or more cards just placed on the table and plays the book. The player then takes the remainder of the face up stack into his or her hand and continues to play from their hand. Their turn ends either when they discard a single card face up to the discard pile or when they have played all of the cards in their hand.
 +==== Teams without Books Played ====
 +A player who is a member of a team that has not yet played any books has the same requirements to play the face up card as a member of a book comprised of two or more additional cards, but must also show on the table additional books as necessary to play the minimum 50 point opening. The player takes the top face up card from the pile, adds to the cards just placed on the table, then takes the remainder of the face up stack into his or her hand and continues playing from their hand. Their turn ends either when they discard a single card face up to the discard pile or when they have played all of the cards in their hand.
